Power Query Session From 24HOP Now Available To Watch

The recording of my session, “Power Query: Beyond The Basics”, from yesterday’s 24 Hours of PASS event is already available to watch here:

It’s a brief introduction to the M language that’s used in Power Query and shows some of the things you can do with it. You can download the slides and the demo material (a lot of which I didn’t have time to cover) from here:

All of the other sessions from the event can be found here:

  1. I would like to know how soon in Power Query will be added extended functionality for support Regular Expressions, XPath / XQuery and Multithreaded / Parallel querying. In the current state this product is not suitable for general use.

    • I can’t comment on timelines, but I know the PQ team are working hard to add new functionality and it’s worth remembering that this is a tool aimed at information workers and not necessarily people like you or me. I don’t think it’s fair to say that it’s not suitable for general use – it depends on who’s using the tool and what they are using it for.

  2. Also, I’d really like to see support for CLR user-defined functions and correct parsing of AJAX-like web-pages.
