New Power Query Videos Live

I have recorded two new videos for Project Botticelli about Power Query that are now available to view. They are:

What Is Power Query?

This is short introduction to Power Query is free to view (registration required) and covers just the basics.

Power Query Fundamentals

This 45 minute video goes into more detail about all of the cool things you can do in the Power Query Query Editor. You’re going to need a subscription to see this, but if you subscribe you will of course get access to loads of other videos too (including my MDX course, Marco and Alberto’s DAX videos, and lots of other cool MS BI content).

Don’t forget that my Power Query book is still available (even if it’s now a little out of date because the Power Query UI has changed over the last few months, you’ll probably want it for the more advanced content which is still good) and that I have several classroom-based training courses on Power BI and SSAS in London next year.

Free Video On Subselects In MDX

Yet more videos have been added to my online MDX training course including a new, free video on subselects in MDX that you can see here:

My Online MDX Training Course Is Now Live!

Recently I spent a few days with Rafal Lukawiecki recording videos of my MDX training course for Project Botticelli. I’m now pleased to announce that the first two videos (to add to the free video I recorded last year) from the course are now live with more to follow soon. You can find the main course page here; the two videos available as of today are:

The MDX SELECT Statement

This video covers writing simple MDX queries and looks at the SELECT clause, the FROM clause and the WHERE clause. The cool thing is that it’s free to view – although you will need to register on the site first.

MDX Calculated Members

This video covers the basics of creating calculated members in MDX in the WITH clause and using the CREATE MEMBER statement. It’s available to subscribers only.

Apart from my course there’s a lot of other great Microsoft BI video training available via Project Botticelli, including several DAX videos by my old friends Marco Russo and Alberto Ferrari. Subscriptions to the site are very reasonably priced, but if you register before the end of December 2013 you can get a 20% discount by using the following promotion code:

TECHNITRAIN20HOLS2013

Of course, if you prefer your training in a classroom, you can always attend one of my Technitrain courses in London next year.

Free MDX Training Video Now Live

I’m sure a lot of you have seen Rafal Lukawiecki speak at BI events around the world; well, a few months ago he launched a new online training business at http://projectbotticelli.com/ and I’m honoured to announce that the first video I’ve recorded for him is now live. It’s a 30 minute session on some of the basic theory of MDX (the concepts of unique names, tuples and sets), it’s free to view and it’s available here:
http://projectbotticelli.com/knowledge/mdx-basic-concepts-unique-names-tuples-sets-video-tutorial?pk_campaign=cw2012cwb

I’ll be recording some more MDX videos with him next year, and I’ll post again when they’re done. There are also many other great videos from Rafal, Marco and Alberto on DAX, SSAS 2012 Tabular, PowerPivot, Data Mining and other MS BI topics available which you can find here:
http://projectbotticelli.com/video?tid=All&pk_campaign=cw2012cwb

Hope you enjoy them! And if you’re looking for some classroom-based MDX training, the course I’m teaching in London in December still has some spaces left:
