It didn’t get much attention at the time (maybe because it was done at the Sharepoint Conference, and not at PASS… why?) but last week Microsoft gave the first public demos of its Mobile BI solution. I wasn’t there to see it but Just Blindbaek was and this morning he tweeted some pictures of what he saw. Some of you Microsoft BI enthusiasts might be interested to see them:

The codename seems to be ‘Project Helix’.
This seems to me to have the same look and feel of the new Azure admin portal interface… Pretty cool stuff. Now can we get them to give SSRS some love 8)
To be honest, I think this IS part of the “SSRS love”. Given that PowerView (and possibly Helix too) is based on an underlying .RDL file, I wouldn’t be surprised if MS look to bring more of the features of SSRS into PowerView (or something like it – maybe a more advanced “developers” version). Just a gut feel mind, and I certainly don’t think they’ll abandon SSRS in its traditional form.
thanks for the info Chris! I wish they had announced it at the Summit as well. I found another link on Project Helix as well http://picnicerror.net/development/sql-server/microsoft-mobile-bi-project-helix-unveiled-2012-11-21/
looks very similar to Power View, they are really embracing the Silverlight interface!
To me it looks a bit like powerview? Powerview is good stuff, but looking at these screens it appears to me as an interface that is more mouse-optimized than optimized for touch…
But…. it’s just 2 screens and I am very interested in seeing more.
